Conversation Space
A new Slack channel was created today: #org-diversity-equity-inclusion. I shared this in #team-banno but was rightfully held accountable that I needed to share this in an email so it can be communicated out to everyone without getting lost in the normal Slack channel shuffle.
The channel has been created to facilitate an open conversation and share resources with one another. I hope this channel will become a place we can all learn and grow to provide the best environment for our fellow humans we are working with every day. I welcome all to join and to please come with a listening ear and an open heart over a quick tongue.
As that channel has grown bit by bit today, I also wanted to share the first message I shared in the channel: Although we have many underrepresented groups and plenty to discuss, we must recognize the Black community is actively hurting the most right now.
I do truly hope this can provide us a starting place within our group at Banno to start having uncomfortable conversations, educate ourselves, share stories, challenge biases, and work towards actionable steps to fostering an environment that is increasingly diverse, equitable, and inclusive.
