For everyone clamoring to know our organization’s engagement in Stack/Overflow, the numbers are in! Well, they’ve always been in but we finally have a stock of monthly analytics ready to share. While we began using S/O in October 2022, we’re providing updates starting January 2023. We believe this starting point gives us an accurate representation of how our organization uses S/O month to month. Contributors and SMEs should have felt comfortable using S/O and become familiar with the process.
TL;DR Pressed for time? We suggest reading April’s update as that gives you the latest comparisons.
As the year progresses, our observations will deepen as we gauge the various analytics. A few things we look forward to watching over time include trending tags, trending questions, and the time to answer. Don’t miss our updates for February, March, and April, too!
Let the doc team know if you have feedback, questions, or want additional info in future updates.

Interaction Rate
Metric: Weighted average number of answers, votes, and comments per question.
The interaction rate for January is down nearly 5% from December. We prefer to see a lower engagement rate as this can indicate that “good” questions are being asked. Questions include the necessary details and context for an SME or another contributor to answer. There is also a minimal amount of comments asking for clarification. Ideally, we want a “lower-ish” interaction rate and high answer rate.
