Hiring at Banno

We follow a strict, but ever-evolving interview process at Banno. Outlined below are the steps for hiring any full time engineer into one of our teams.

Initial Screening and Introduction Call

The candidate has 30 - 45 minute phone or video call with a team lead or hiring manager. Our goal with this call is to get an understanding of the candidate’s experience, as well as to introduce the Banno team and what we do.

Technical Screening

For most positions, the interviewee will be given a defined project, roughly 1 - 2 days worth of work. There is no time constraint for completion, and the candidate may use any tool chain they prefer. We only request that the candidate give regular updates if completion takes longer than a week.

This will be followed by a 90-minute technical interview. The goal of this phase is to gain insight on how the candidate builds software and how they work with others on software they have created. This is part of our screening process, and at this point the interview process may end and will not continue to the next phase.

Team Interview

Some members of the team the candidate would be joining will conduct another interview with the candidate to ensure they will work well within the team, and to push on any further technical questions the larger team may have. This may happen on the same day as the technical screen or on a separate one, and it may come before or after the technical screen depending on the position.

Final conversation with Team Leads

If the interview team approves after all previous phases, we proceed to work towards compensation and onboarding of the candidate. The week before their start date, they will receive tracking information for their hardware and an email containing useful day-one links.
